About Our Coach

I've learned throughout my life that life is what you make it. Getting what you want is not about shortcuts. It takes dedication and work to move toward your goals. I grew up in a hockey focused family and played through high school. I also played football. In those experiences, I watched how coaching is often focused on certain athletes, not the team as a whole. That has shaped how I see the coach I want to be, someone who is focused on the entire team, not just those at the ends of the spectrum.

Turning Point

I've been active in sports throughout my youth and early adulthood. But somewhere in my mid-forties I realized I wanted something more structured that would keep me motivated on a more daily basis. I found a group fitness gym in my community that gave me the foundation for joining CrossFit a few years later. When my wife and I first moved to the area, we thought a home gym would be enough. But there is something so valuable in being in community and we are both grateful to have found it together at Una Stamus.

Motivation & Passion

My purpose for coaching is to make CrossFit relatable. I think my coaching style will be more geared towards the non-Rx athlete. I enjoy encouraging others to achieve something bigger than they might tackle on their own. And I find a sense of humor makes the journey more enjoyable so I bring that to others as we work together toward a goal. I have watched the prior generations I'm my family struggle through the aging process. I'm motivated to stay active so that I might have a better transition. I find that doing so in a community makes it a lot easier to stay on track.
