A Foundation that Lasts a Lifetime

The best time to build a healthy habit is before your kiddo needs to break an unhealthy one

As adults, we spend a lot of time and energy trying to build healthy habits later in life — trying to undo years of sitting too much, moving too little, and never quite learning how to enjoy exercise instead of dreading it.

Here's a simple truth that could save your child from that same uphill climb: the best time to build a healthy habit is before there's an unhealthy one to break.

That's the whole idea behind CrossFit Kids at Una Stamus. We're not trying to make tiny athletes. We're trying to give kids a foundation — of movement, of confidence, of enjoying their own strength — that they carry with them for the rest of their lives.

What CrossFit Kids at Una Stamus actually looks like

Every class is packed with movement, laughter, and learning. And here's the part that matters most: we focus on how your child moves, not how fast or how heavy. That single shift in focus changes everything about how a kid experiences exercise.

Each class blends age-appropriate games and excitement with basic functional movements that help kids grow stronger, more coordinated, and more confident. Along the way, we build in teamwork, perseverance, and positive character — all while the kids are having an absolute blast. Because if a kid isn't having fun, none of the rest of it sticks.

We describe our approach as BIG: Broad, Inclusive, and General. That means lots of movement, plenty of smiles, and a genuinely exciting alternative to screen time and sitting still. It's not about specializing a six-year-old in one sport or one skill. It's about giving them a wide, well-rounded base they can build anything on top of later.

Meeting kids exactly where they are

One of the things we care about most is making sure every kid can participate, feel successful, and grow at their own pace.

Whether your child is a second grader just learning the basics or a pre-teen athlete already building real skills, every workout is scaled to match their age, experience, and stage of development. Nobody gets left behind because a workout was too advanced. Nobody gets bored because it was too easy. Every kid, at every stage, gets a version of the class that's genuinely right for them.

We also keep things simple and accessible — CrossFit Kids uses minimal equipment and focuses on smart, effective movement. That makes it a genuinely welcoming way for kids from all backgrounds to stay active, build confidence, and start developing a lifelong love for fitness, without needing anything fancy to get started.

We focus on how your child moves — not how fast or how heavy — so they build a strong foundation in a safe, encouraging environment. Strong bodies, confident minds, and kids who can't wait to come back. That's what CrossFit Kids is all about.

Why starting early matters so much

Kids tend to grow up doing what they saw growing up. If movement was a normal, enjoyable part of childhood, it's far more likely to stay a normal, enjoyable part of adulthood. If exercise was always something to dread — or something that only happened when trying to "fix" a problem later — that association can be a lot harder to shake.

That's exactly why we start early. A child who learns at seven or eight that their body is capable, that movement is fun, and that trying hard at something difficult feels good — carries all of that forward. Not as a New Year's resolution they have to force themselves into decades later, but as something that's simply always been part of who they are.

The skills matter too. Basic functional movement — squatting, jumping, throwing, balancing, coordinating — built early gives kids a physical foundation that supports whatever they do next: another sport, an active hobby, or simply a body that moves well and feels good for the rest of their life.

More than fitness — a foundation for life

The movement is only part of it. The teamwork, perseverance, and positive character we build into every class matter just as much as the physical skills.

A kid who learns to encourage a teammate, push through a hard round, and feel proud of effort rather than just outcome is building something that shows up everywhere — in the classroom, on other sports teams, and in how they handle challenges for the rest of their life. That's not a bonus feature of CrossFit Kids. It's the point.

Strong bodies. Confident minds. Kids who can't wait to come back next week. That's the foundation we're building, one class at a time.
